The eyeliner you would draw, if you had the time
Semi-permanent eyeliner in Middlesbrough at Helena Aesthetics is a defined line along the lashes with a wing, customised to your eye shape. You choose the style, the shape and the size of the wing, and we sketch it together before anything begins. A VTCT Level 4 practitioner from a medical background works in a clean, clinical setting, and every treatment starts with a consultation and patch test.
Semi-permanent eyeliner, with a wing
Semi-permanent eyeliner is the closest thing to the eyeliner you would draw on yourself, except you wake up with it already done. Unlike lash line enhancement, it is meant to be seen: a defined line along the lashes that extends into a wing.
The wing is entirely yours. The style, the shape and the size are all customised to your eye shape and what you actually like wearing. If you have hooded eyes and have always been told a wing will not work for you, come and talk to me. We sketch the options together at your consultation before any pigment is used.
At Helena Aesthetics on Acklam Road in Middlesbrough I do semi-permanent eyeliner in a clean, clinical setting, always starting with a full consultation and a patch test 24 hours before.
What to expect
Classic eyeliner
a sharp, clean line that defines your lash line, finished with a wing. Perfect for a natural but clearly defined look.
Shaded eyeliner
a soft, smokey effect that sits a little wider than a classic line. Great if you want a fuller lash look without doing your makeup every day.
How long it lasts
usually three to five years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle and how well you care for it. A touch-up every few years keeps the colour fresh and the line sharp.
Swelling and downtime
slight swelling can happen on the first day, but it is usually minimal. The technique I use is designed to help keep swelling and bruising to a minimum, and most clients get on with their day as normal.
Consultation and patch test
the consultation is free. We talk through the details, sketch out different wing options, and if you decide to go ahead we do a patch test 24 hours before your treatment.
Aftercare
avoid makeup, mascara and lash extensions around the eyes for about seven days while it heals. After that you can go back to your normal beauty routine.

Semi-permanent eyeliner FAQ
Semi-permanent eyeliner is meant to be seen. It is a defined line with a wing, in the style and size you choose. Lash line enhancement is the subtle option: colour goes between the lashes only, it does not extend past the eye, and there is no wing.
Yes. The style, shape and size of the wing are all customised to your eye shape and your preference. We sketch the options together at your consultation first.
Often yes, but the shape has to be drawn carefully. This is exactly what the free consultation is for. We sketch a few options against your own eyes so you can see what works before anything is permanent.
Classic is a sharp, clean line. Shaded is softer and smokier, sitting a little wider for a fuller lash look. We talk through both at your consultation.
Usually three to five years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. A touch-up every few years keeps it looking fresh.
Most clients describe the feeling as mildly scratchy, but very manageable overall.
Yes. A patch test is required 24 hours before all semi-permanent makeup treatments.
Yes. I can refresh or even out older semi-permanent eyeliner that has faded or gone patchy.
